Looking Fall, Feeling Summer

Do You Really Have To Match Your Colors To The Season?

The thing about the fashion industry is that you’re always a season ahead. With previews for next season and even next year going on it’s hard to stay focused on what’s actually happening right now. Maybe that’s why I’ve been missing fall colors lately. I chose to wear this gray and burgundy colored outfit on a recent beach trip and couldn’t help but wonder, is it it really important to match your colors to the season? It makes sense that warmer hues like pumpkin, burgundy, gray and navy should be worn during the fall/winter but that doesn’t mean we can’t incorporate them into our outfits throughout the year. Details like a floral print or a contrast pocket in a light color are a great way to make a “fall” color feel more appropriate for the summer months. So go ahead and where whatever shade you want, whenever you want, but if you live in New York City you already know that because all black is basically the year-round uniform.
